Finland is the 3rd Best Country in the World to Work and Settle. According to Smart Global Governors, Finland’s Data Protection Act is a supplementary implementing act of the GDPR and was introduced in 2019.  Through this, the Data Protection Act governs the collection, storage, and use of personal data while protecting the privacy of individuals’ data. This Data Protection Act contains a number of provisions and requirements related to the processing of individuals’ personal data. The Act has added fundamental value as the right to privacy is a fundamental right under the Finnish Constitution.

Sight shows that Data privacy in Finland is governed by the Data Protection Act 2018 (HE 9/2018 VP), replacing the Personal Data Act (523/1999). Russia has data protection laws in place, including the Federal Law “On Personal Data” which was adopted in 2006 and regulates the collection, storage, and processing of personal data. The law applies to both private and public organizations and outlines specific requirements for protecting personal data, including the need for organizations to obtain consent from individuals before collecting and using their personal information.

According to Securiti, Russia’s Federal Law No.152-FZ was passed by its State Duma in 2006. It also changes the enforcement powers of the Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technology, and Mass Media (Roskomnadzor). The latest amendment to the Federal Law on Personal Data Amendment (Amendment 266-FZ), was adopted by the State Duma on July 22, 2022. It came into effect on September 1, 2022, and brings significant changes to the Federal Law on Personal Data 152-FZ and the overall data privacy landscape operating in Russia.

In addition, specific acts such as the Debt Recovery Act of 1988, the Credit Information Act of 1973, the Patient Data Act, the Criminal Data Act, and the Electronic Communications Act are included.

According to Linklaters, in Sweden, the Data Protection Act states that the government or an authority determined by the government has the power to issue regulations regarding the processing of personal data in connection with criminal offenses committed by persons other than the authorities.
